For our first blog post on our new Utz and Associates website and blog, we decided to write about a very important project right here in our hometown. The Harmony Playground and Pavilion is a unique project that started with a group of concerned parents and caregivers who saw a need for a universally accessible playground for children and adults with disabilities. The design of this playground is unique in that it features ramp sections to every elevated platform on the playground equipment, adaptive and group-friendly circular swings, cochlear implant friendly slides, harmonic instruments and UV protective shades structures. In addition to the unique playground equipment, Utz and Associates Architects has been given the honor and responsibility of designing a universally accessible pavilion adjacent to the playground that will host future outdoor events in the park. Drawing inspiration from the special needs of the end users of this pavilion, we are excited to step up to the challenge and deliver a structure where everyone will feel at home. If you wish to help make this fantastic project a reality, feel free to make monetary donations, sponsor a piece of equipment, or simply spread the work about this one-of-a-kind project!
