UTZ & Associates Architects P.C. (UAA) was established in 2009 by current firm Principle Architecht and Owner William (Bill) UTZ, formely President of Hance, UTZ and Associates and ArchiTextures Design Center. Now staffed with additional licensed Architect Colton Davis and nationally registered Interior Designer Taylor Hecht, UAA has established ourselves as the areas experts in architectural space planning, design and visualization.
Well-versed in several project types, including recreational sports and childcare facilities, UAA prides ourselves in using technologically superior processes, providing greater value and a clearer view for our clients. To accomplish this, UAA utilizes the industry's latest and most advanced 3D digital modeling software that allows us to provide near photo-realistic images and video of our client's proposed projects, eliminating the need for clients to understand and interpret traditional architectural graphics or terminology.
William Utz
President, Owner Architect
Mr. William (Bill) UTZ is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a BS in Architectural Studies and a Masters of Architecture with a concentration in Structural Engineering. He is an architect licensed in Illinois, Montana, and Kentucky. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Bill serves as an Architect and Project Manager of all types, from initial design concepts to construction observation and beyond. He was formerly the President of Hance, UTZ, and Associates architectural firm and ArchiTextures Design Center. His vision is to provide his clients with a high design standard in one location by providing Architectural / Engineering and Interior Design Services in-house.
Colton Davis
Architect
Mr. Colton Davis is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he earned a BS in Architectural Studies and a Masters of Architecture. He is a licensed Architect with experience in a diverse mix of project types, including education, retail, and healthcare. Colton also has experience designing energy-efficient buildings and is a certified LEED Green Associate.
Taylor Hecht
Interior Designer
Mrs. Taylor Hecht is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she earned a BS in Interior Design. She has obtained her National Council for Interior Design Qualification certification and has over 10 years of experience within the design industry. Taylor has knowledge of space planning, finish selection, and furniture specification.
Tim Stephens
Business Development Director
Mr. Tim Stephens is the Business Development Director for UTZ and Associates Architects P.C. His professional life has been dedicated to business marketing and finance since 1989, working for regional and national corporations such as Fifth Third Bancorp and PrimeLending, a Plains Capital Company.
Courtney Adkins

Mrs. Courtney Adkins is a graduate if Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a BS in Architectural Studies. Courtney has been part of the UAA team for 5 years, beginning as an Intern Architect and Drafting Technician before transitioning into a full-time role. She brings her experience in architectural drafting, design development, project documentation, and rendering, with a passion for creating thoughtful and functional spaces.
Ava Hout
Drafting Technician, Intern Architect
Miss Ava Hout is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where she earned her B.S. in Architectural Studies. She currently attends Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she is an M.S. in Architectural Studies Candidate. Ava also works as our social media manager and is a LEED Green Associate.
